Lagos State Public Secondary School Transfer 2026/2027 – JS II & SS I

The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has commenced the students transfer for the 2026/2027 academic session into JSS II and SSI in public secondary schools across the State.

The transfer exercise is only for students seeking for admission into JSSII and SSI in the public junior and senior secondary schools. The Lagos State Ministry of Education announced that the application will commence from Monday, 10 August 2026, and close on Friday, 4 September 2026.

Parents and Guardians interested for the transfer are to submit their applications within the stipulated period. And applicants should understand that applying and making payment doesn’t guarantee transfer as the it is done based on the availability of admission vacancies in the selected schools.

Who Can Apply for the Lagos State School Transfer?

The transfer is for students seeking for transfer of school into JSSII and SSI into Lagos State public junior secondary and senior secondary schools.

The following categories of students are eligible for the transfer:

  • Students transfering from one public school to another.
  • Students in JSSII transfering from a private schools to public junior secondary schools.
  • Students in SSI transfering from a private schools to public junior secondary schools.

Only the above categories are eligible for the transfer, any other transfers will not be considered by the Ministry.

Eligibility Requirements

The following requirements must be satisfied for the transfer. Parents and guardians should take note of the following requirements:

For JSS II Applicants

Students applying for transfer in to JSSII are to provide their second and third term results of their previous schools.

The results copies should be attached with their transfer application letter.

For SS I Applicants

Students applying for transfer in to SSI are to provide their first and second term results and BECE registration number or Result from their previous schools.

The results copies should be attached with their transfer application letter.

  • Recent passport photograph
  • Birth certificate
  • Previous academic results (second and third term results for JSSII).
  • First and second term results, BECE Registration Number or BECE Result for SSI students.

How to Apply for Lagos State School Transfer

Interested applicants should follow the application procedure announced by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

Prepare the Application Letter

Parents and guardians are to write a transfer application letter to the Basic Education Services Department, Room 507 at the Ministry of Education.

The application is to be addressed to:

  • Previous school attended
  • School of choice for transfer

Attach Required Documents

Other required documents are to be attached with the application letter, the documents are recent passport photograph, birth certificate and previous results.

Obtain the Stamped Invoice

After submitting the application, a stamped invoice will be given to applicants by the Basic Education Services Department.

The invoice will be use for application payment.

Make Payment Through the Lagos Revenue Portal

Parents or guardians are to pay the application fee through the Lagos Revenue Portal (LRP).

Confirm the Payment

After making the payment, copy of the receipt must be submitted to the Finance and Accounts Department of the Ministry for confirmation and to complete the e-payment process.

The following amount are the charges for the transfer fee according to the Ministry:

Public School to Public School

Transfer of student from a public school to another public school (JSS II or SSI) attract a fee of ₦5,000.

Private School to Public Junior School

Transfer of student from private school to public Junior Secondary Schools (JSS II) payment is ₦10,000.

Private School to Public Senior School

Transfer of student from private school to public Senior Secondary Schools (SS I) payment is ₦20,000.
